About the service

WeChat registration with a virtual number: read this first

WeChat is the hardest mainstream service to register from outside China, and we'd rather tell you honestly than sell you a number twice. The SMS part works: take a number on Get-SMS — Chinese or most other pools — and you'll receive WeChat's verification code normally. But for several years Tencent has added a second gate for new accounts: confirmation by an existing WeChat user, who scans a QR code and must themselves meet criteria (account older than several months, active, not helping others too often).

So the realistic checklist for a new WeChat account is: a clean device without previous WeChat installs, a stable non-VPN IP, a virtual number for the SMS step — and a friend with an established WeChat account ready to confirm you. With those four things, registration goes through; without a helper, it usually stalls at the QR step no matter whose SIM card you use, physical or virtual.

Where the virtual number genuinely helps

Besides first registration, our numbers are useful for the flows WeChat handles by SMS alone: confirming a login on a new device for an existing account, unbinding an old number, or re-verifying after the app flags a session. For those, a one-time activation is exactly enough. If you're setting up WeChat for business communication with Chinese partners, do the registration once with helper confirmation, then bind your own email and keep sessions alive — WeChat rarely re-asks for SMS on stable devices.

FAQ

WeChat virtual numbers — frequently asked questions

I received the SMS code but registration still won't finish. Why?
WeChat requires confirmation by an existing user (QR scan) for most new accounts. That's Tencent's anti-fraud gate — no phone number, real or virtual, bypasses it.
Do I need a Chinese (+86) number for WeChat?
No — WeChat registers on numbers from most countries. A +86 number matters for Weixin-specific features tied to mainland accounts, not for basic registration.
Who can act as my «helper» for the QR confirmation?
Any WeChat user with an account in good standing: several months old, active recently, and who hasn't confirmed other newcomers this month. Colleagues or business partners work fine.
Can I use the number to log into an existing WeChat account?
Yes — new-device login confirmations and number re-binding work by plain SMS, and a one-time activation covers them without any helper.
